Cost analysis for planting cassava
In farming cost of planting differs from place to due to variation on cost of labour but however this analysis is to serve as a guide to intending farmers to avoid over charges
We shall be using the cost of planting one 1 hectare as our basis of analysis
Land rent ( 1 hectare )  = Depends on land owners
Ploughing = 18000
Incase of not ploughing u can do clearing = 20000 TO 25000 Depending on negotiation
Spraying of systemic herbicide ( labour cost ) = 4000
Systemic herbicide =1650 * 4 = 6600
Insecticide (1 liter) = 1800
Bundles of cassava ( This depends on the size of the Bundles but I shall be using 50 though it may not be up to that if its tired big in your location) 50*500naira = 25000naira
Planting ( labour cost) = 15000
After two months of planting urea fertilizer is added = 2 bags * 7000 = 15000
First weeding (we use selective Herbicide) = 2500 * 2= 5000
Labour cost for spraying = 4000
Depending on the specie of cassava some will be due for sales at 10 months
Using the 10 months cassava
Second weeding is usually done at 5 month this time u use contact herbicide
2 liters of contact Herbicide =2 * 1650 =3300
Labor cost of spraying = 4000
Final weeding 8 months
Using contact Herbicides = 2 liters * 1650 = 3300
Cost of labour for spraying = 4000
On the 10 month its time for sales, during this period some cost may occur depending on the system you adopt for sales if you want to uproot and take to where it will be bought on kilos then their will cost of uprooting alone which ranges from 15000 upwards for 1 hectare depending on your barging power.
Then if you want to use for garri processing then you will have to pay for uprooting and peeling this again depends on your bargaining power and location.
