SHELLESS EGGS OR SOFT EGGS

 


If you are poultry farmer who farms for eggs or keep laying birds for eggs production this may not sound new to you , But if you are an intending egg farmer this is a situation where your laying birds lay eggs that have soft shell eggs , this eggs sometimes break immediately they are laid while some times you  may see them where you pick them up you will notice their shell are too soft and even sometimes if birds are on the floor or deep liter system immediately its laid other birds drink this egg .


 

This may start from a bird before some other birds may join in laying such egg . 

This situation is mostly caused by newcastle disease in the farm

First cure is make sure your farm have BIOSECURITY you should prevent people from just entering your farm anyhow no matter how small you consider your farm to be.

And if people must enter put a mat or deep where they must deep their legs inside a disinfected water and wash their hands this helps to keep the safe the farm environment.

Maintain monthly lasota for the birds , its very good if it can be implemented. Once a month lasota for the laying birds helps a lot although sometimes even with this you may see shell less eggs but it helps to prevent the severity and frequent reoccurrence.

Where you have given all the necessary vaccine and this occurs administer lasota to your laying birds when this happens even if you have have given lasota treatment for that month however if it happens few days not up to a week after the lasota don't repeat the lasota because it could be as a result of the eggs formed before the lasota or birds which missed the lasota but repeat the lasota if its up to 2 weeks of given them before.

Make sure to watch out for the expiration of the lasota during use to avoid giving your birds expired drugs that will not work and cofirm the lasota is in good form before administration .

After administering the Lasota follow it up with antival treatment like viramix, virocida etc. for 3 days as a support for the lasota this should be given if you notice the shell less eggs and treating it not when you did not notice it and you are giving routine lasota for prevention.

Don't forget one of the easiest ways to prevent newcastle disease is to maintain a neat and safe poultry environment .
